The igniter is the core piece of every airbag, seatbelt pretensioner and actuator. hirtenberger manufactures a GTMS type igniter (glass-to-metal-seal body, laser welded, hermetically sealed) and plastic igniter the so called HPP.
The hirtenberger igniters fulfil all major specifications in the automotive industry, incl. the AK-LV 16.
The current highlight of the igniter technology is the HPP, a highly innovative plastic igniter. It is the first time worldwide that in the process a pyrotechnic component is overmoulded directly with a special polymeric material, which ensures mechanical stability, hermetic sealing and electric strength.
