Hirtenberger Automotive Safety
In 1993 the "Automotive Safety" (HAS) division
was established. In close cooperation with customers from
the automotive industry, first generation gas generators (initially
mechanical ones) for seat belt pre-tensioners were developed
and produced.
By 2006, after the production of more than 120 million gas
generators, Hirtenberger Automotive Safety had established
itself as one of the global market leaders for such pyrotechnical
components, designed to protect human life. Given its inherent
advantages, pyrotechnology has become a vital part of passive
safety equipment.
Hirtenberger Automotive Safety also offers a range of pyrotechnical
activators, which are integrated into the so-called active
headrests, adaptive steering columns, and active pedestrian
protection systems.
